Wispr Flow vs Monologue (2026): the same price, built for different people

Full disclosure: I make Rhino Voice, which competes with both. I don't make either of these. Monologue is Every's dictation app, and it's priced exactly like Wispr Flow, so the choice comes down to platforms, free plan and how much runs on your Mac. Here's the honest comparison.

Or skip both: Rhino Voice is free, runs entirely on your Mac and needs no account.

Where Wispr Flow wins

Windows and Android. If any device you dictate on isn't Apple, Monologue is out.

A real free plan. Flow's 2,000 words a week never runs out. Monologue's 1,000 words are a trial: about seven minutes of talking, then you pay.

Where Monologue wins

It can stay on your Mac. Monologue offers local transcription models that work without a connection. Its smart formatting and syncing still need the internet, and Monologue says dictation audio and transcripts aren't saved on its servers.

More than dictation. Voice notes, bot-free meeting notes and MCP, API and CLI access to what you've captured are all in Pro. If you want your AI tools to search your notes, that's built in.

The Every bundle. If you already pay for Every, Monologue Pro is included, which makes the price comparison moot.

The part neither fixes

Both cost $144 a year, and both still lean on the cloud for the cleanup that makes dictation feel finished. Monologue's offline mode turns speech into text, but formatting needs a connection.

Rhino Voice runs the transcription and the cleanup on your Mac. Wi-Fi off, it still cleans up filler words and punctuation. It's free for 2,000 words a week (unlimited your first week) and $20 once for unlimited, with no account.

Rhino is Mac only, Apple silicon, macOS 14 or newer, with no phone or Watch app and no meeting notes. For meeting notes on your Mac, I make a separate app, MeetMouse.

I checked both apps' prices and claims on their own sites in October 2026. Dictation apps change pricing often, so confirm on their sites before you buy. Wispr Flow and Monologue are trademarks of their owners. Rhino isn't affiliated with either.
